3 Tips For Creating A Relaxing At-Home Spa Experience Using Lavender After A Stressful Day

Posted on: 26 April 2016

If you have had a hard, stressful day, you may be wondering if there is anything you can do to relax and unwind. If so, use the following tips to create your own at-home spa experience using lavender (as well as any other spa products for sale that you wish) to decrease your anxiety levels, relieve your sore body and soothe your nerves.

Light Aromatic Lavender Candles To Promote Mental Well-Being

Before you indulge in your lavender oil bath, light a few aromatic lavender scented candles to further intensify the therapeutic aroma of the herb, helping to fully engage your olfactory sense to relax you and promote your mental well-being.

If you do not have any candles, however, you have a couple of options available as a substitute. First, if you have an oil warmer, place about a tablespoon of lavender oil into the receptacle, and turn it on.

Second, you can place drops on your temples and in between your eyes. When you use this method, you not only benefit from the aroma of the lavender, but it can also help relieve any discomfort you may be feeling from a tension headache.

Make Your Own Lavender Oil Bath Salt

Using lavender oil and Epsom salt, this homemade bath salt relaxes you and relieves any muscle soreness or tightness you may be feeling throughout your body. When inhaled, the lavender stimulates the nervous and circulatory systems, helping to calm your nerves and promote increased blood flow to your body.

Pour a cup of Epsom salt into a plastic container with a lid. Add 10 to 15 drops of the lavender oil, then replace the lid. Shake the container vigorously to mix the two ingredients.

As you start filling your bathtub, empty the contents of the container into the water. Once the tub is filled, wait about five to 10 minutes to give the salt time to dissolve. Before getting into your bath, use your hand or a washcloth to stir up the water to evenly disperse the salt and oil. Then, soak until you are ready to get out.

Rub A Homemade Massage Oil Onto Your Aching Muscles

Once you are finished with your bath, pat yourself dry, then rub this homemade massage oil made with lavender and rosemary oils into your skin to soothe your aching muscles and further reduce your stress level. For the massage oil, you will also need olive oil, which acts as a carrier oil, as well as a small bowl.

Along with the lavender oil, the rosemary oil helps calm your nerves and relieve your mental fatigue. It also moisturizes your skin, leaving you feeling soft and invigorated.

In the bowl, add three tablespoons of olive oil and 10 drops each of the rosemary and lavender oils. Use the end of a cotton swab to mix the oils together. If you wish, place the bowl in the microwave for about 10 seconds to warm it. If it is not warm enough to your liking, heat it in five second increments until it is the desired temperature.

Place a small amount of the oil into the palms of your hands, and gently rub it into your skin. If you wish, you can have a partner use it on you for a sensuous massage. Once you are finished, let the oil air dry and soak into your skin.

Using the tips above can help you pamper yourself at home while you relax after a hard day. If you decide you do not want to make your own products, or if you are concerned about your sensitive skin, you may want to find spa product for sale online that can cater to your needs and help you create a luxurious experience at home.
